Eric was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois matriculated through parochial Jesuit Christian Catholic Schools, where he graduated from Delasalle Institute High School. In addition to a private school education, he also studied metaphysics through the teachings of Johnnie Coleman at Christ Universal Temple and had Les Brown, Stedman Graham and Donald Jackson as mentors.
Eric's early education in business began as a participant in Junior Achievement and as a property manager in the family business of real estate investing. He attended and graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Minor in Political Science. He was also mentored by the late mayor of Atlanta Maynard Jackson and has worked on many political campaigns in Chicago and Atlanta.
Eric's career in banking began with the credit card bank of MBNA America Bank, owned by Al Learner, who also owns the Cleveland Browns. He participated in their Management Development Program, learning the art of Affinity Marketing, Sales, Operations, credit underwriting and how to run a business unit. He then entered investment banking through Merrill Lynch’s Professional Development Program. From there, Eric worked for First Union Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Ameriprise Financial, American Express, Guaranty Bank and Bank of America, specializing in financial and business planning and strategy, business, investment, and commercial banking. Then, he went to work for Fintech Bank, Newtek Bank, had a stint at First Bank and now brings his wealth of experience and knowledge Flatbay Capital.
Eric has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, as a cofounder of a distance learning company, in which he raised money and eventually sold the company. He has helped companies acquire over $500M in capital whether debt or equity and managed investment assets over $500M in his career. He has also owned a Business & Financial Consulting Group, a boutique strategic planning, business development and capital funding company for the past 15 years.
Eric has 2 daughters, is active in his church and enjoys playing golf, tennis, and basketball. He has a passion for helping people reach their goals using his life-coaching and analytical problem-solving skills for both personal and professional success.
